al-Sullam al-munawraq ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Akhḍarī

Al-Akhḍarī's poem of 144 rajaz verses on logic, written in 941/1534: the first logic text of al-Azhar, al-Qarawiyyīn, al-Zaytūna and the Mauritanian maḥāḍir, learnt by heart. Following the plan of the Īsāghūjī, it covers knowledge and signification, the universals and definition, propositions, contradiction and conversion, the syllogism and its figures, the kinds of proof and the errors of proof. Each lesson gives the verses, a translation, an explanation and a short test.
