تَنْزِيلُ الأَفْكَارِ فِي تَعْدِيلِ الأَسْرَارِ

Tanzīl al-afkār

al-Abharī · d. 663/1265

A large work by the author of the Īsāghūjī in which he set out its logic, followed by metaphysics and physics, and explored new paths: it adopts several of al-Khūnajī's positions, including his 'essentialist' reading of propositions, without naming him. After al-Abharī's death al-Ṭūsī answered it in a respectful but uncompromising critique, Taʿdīl al-miʿyār fī naqd Tanzīl al-afkār, with which the Tanzīl was first printed. The TDV reports a Syriac translation by Abū al-Faraj. The pair of texts documents the thirteenth-century debate between the revisers of Ibn Sīnā's logic and his defenders.
