اللَّآلِئُ المُنْتَظَمَةُ

al-Laʾālī al-muntaẓama

Sabzawārī · d. 1289/1872 (also given as 1878)

The logic part of Mullā Hādī Sabzawārī’s didactic poem (manẓūma), with his own commentary; the second part, Ghurar al-farāʾid, covers philosophy, and the two together with the commentary are known as Sharḥ al-Manẓūma. According to WikiShia the author began the work in 1240/1824–25 and finished the commentary on 23 Ramaḍān 1261/1845; the logic part opens with an introduction on the definition of logic and then treats its questions in seven sections. Sharḥ al-Manẓūma became a standard textbook of the Iranian seminaries and has more than forty commentaries and glosses, among them those of Ḥasan-zāda Āmulī. It shows logic taught as the gateway to Ṣadrian philosophy, in the verse-and-commentary form familiar from the Sullam.
