حَاشِيَةُ مِيرْ زَاهِدٍ عَلَى الرِّسَالَةِ القُطْبِيَّةِ
Mīr Zāhid Risāla
Mīr Zāhid al-Harawī · d. 1101/1689–90
Mīr Zāhid’s commentary-gloss on Quṭb al-Dīn al-Rāzī’s treatise on conception and assent, which asks whether conception and assent are separate kinds of knowledge and what assent consists of. In the Indian madrasas it was known simply as ‘Mīr Zāhid Risāla’ and was read alongside his glosses on al-Dawānī’s commentary on the Tahdhīb and on Sharḥ al-Mawāqif. It was itself glossed, among others by Baḥr al-ʿUlūm (printed Delhi 1875). A student meets here, in concentrated form, the epistemological questions that the Indian logicians placed at the head of logic.
