شَرْحُ سُلَّمِ العُلُومِ
Sharḥ Sullam al-ʿulūm (Ḥamd Allāh)
Ḥamd Allāh al-Sandīlawī · d. 1160/1747
A commentary on the second half of Sullam al-ʿulūm, the part on assents (taṣdīqāt), known in the madrasas as ‘Ḥamd Allāh’. It was written after Qāḍī Mubārak’s commentary and in conversation with it, and Asad Q. Ahmed describes it as the gateway to the Taṣdīqāt and the most glossed of all the Sullam commentaries. Nineteenth-century lithographs print it with super-glosses such as Ilāhī Bakhsh al-Fayḍābādī’s al-Intibāh. Together with Mullā Ḥasan on the conceptions it gives the classic Indian two-part reading of the Sullam.
