تَجْرِيدُ المَنْطِقِ

Tajrīd al-manṭiq

Naṣīr al-Dīn al-Ṭūsī · d. 672/1274

A short, non-polemical Arabic exposition of logic by al-Ṭūsī; some sources describe it as the logic section of his Tajrīd al-iʿtiqād. Following the commentary, it covers the whole Organon in nine chapters, from the universals and categories to demonstration, dialectic, fallacy, rhetoric and poetics. It is mainly read through al-ʿAllāma al-Ḥillī's commentary al-Jawhar al-naḍīd, which was printed in the late nineteenth century and then used to introduce logic in Shīʿī seminaries.
