al-Ṣabbān · d. 1206/1792

A gloss by the Cairene scholar Muḥammad b. ʿAlī al-Ṣabbān on al-Mallawī’s commentary on al-Akhḍarī’s Sullam. Printed at Būlāq in the nineteenth century, it was also carried to Southeast Asia: van Bruinessen, as cited by Fanani and Widigdo, lists it among the logic books of Indonesian pesantren. It is the third layer of the Egyptian Sullam course: poem, al-Mallawī’s commentary, al-Ṣabbān’s gloss.
