A modern handbook of logic by the Najaf reformer Muḥammad Riḍā al-Muẓaffar, based on the lectures he gave from 1357/1938–39 at the Muntadā al-Nashr college. It presents the classical logic in clear modern Arabic and is taught in both seminaries and universities. Roy Mottahedeh describes its addition to the first stage (al-muqaddamāt) of the Najaf ḥawza curriculum as an innovation and calls the book ‘very popular’; some students go on from it to commentaries on the Shamsiyya. A reader who wants to know what logic Shiʿi seminarians learn today should start here.
