حَاشِيَةُ مِيرْ زَاهِدٍ عَلَى شَرْحِ التَّهْذِيبِ لِلدَّوَانِيِّ

Mīr Zāhid Mullā Jalāl

Mīr Zāhid al-Harawī · d. 1101/1689–90

A gloss by Mīr Zāhid on Jalāl al-Dīn al-Dawānī’s commentary on al-Taftāzānī’s Tahdhīb al-manṭiq, a commentary known in India as ‘Mullā Jalāl’ and left unfinished by its author. In the site’s Tahdhīb catalogue, after al-Turkmānī, it is described as a very subtle gloss that scholars received with acceptance and took into their teaching. It attracted super-glosses of its own, among them one by Baḥr al-ʿUlūm (printed Lucknow 1872). Reading it shows how far a ḥāshiya could move from the matn it nominally serves.
