شَرْحُ سُلَّمِ العُلُومِ
Sharḥ Sullam al-ʿulūm (Baḥr al-ʿUlūm)
Baḥr al-ʿUlūm · d. 1225/1810
A commentary on Sullam al-ʿulūm by ʿAbd al-ʿAlī Baḥr al-ʿUlūm, son of Mullā Niẓām al-Dīn, the founder of the Dars-i Niẓāmī, written in the author’s youth. It engages heavily with ontology and refers to his metaphysical work al-ʿUjāla al-nāfiʿa; Asad Q. Ahmed observes that it received few glosses from teachers and owes much of its later standing to print. Baḥr al-ʿUlūm also wrote super-glosses on Mīr Zāhid’s logic glosses and on the syllogism section of the Tahdhīb (TDV). The commentary shows the Farangī Maḥall reading of the Sullam at its most philosophical.
