القَوَاعِدُ الجَلِيَّةُ فِي شَرْحِ الرِّسَالَةِ الشَّمْسِيَّةِ

al-Qawāʿid al-jaliyya

al-ʿAllāma al-Ḥillī · d. 726/1325

The first commentary on al-Kātibī's Shamsiyya, by al-Kātibī's own student al-Ḥillī; a manuscript survives from 1280, so it was written in or just after al-Kātibī's lifetime. It is often critical of al-Kātibī's project, although al-Ḥillī later quietly adopted much of the Shamsiyya's doctrine in his commentary on al-Ṭūsī's Tajrīd. It shows how the Shamsiyya was received by a student who had also studied with al-Ṭūsī.
