الرِّسَالَةُ المَعْمُولَةُ فِي التَّصَوُّرِ وَالتَّصْدِيقِ

al-Risāla fī al-taṣawwur wa-l-taṣdīq

Quṭb al-Dīn al-Rāzī · d. 766/1365

A short treatise on whether conception (taṣawwur) and assent (taṣdīq) each constitute knowledge on their own — the question with which every logic handbook opens. It is not a complete handbook, but because it overlaps with their opening sections it entered the logic course, above all in India, where it was read through Mīr Zāhid al-Harawī's commentary. After Muḥibb Allāh al-Bihārī's Sullam al-ʿulūm it is the logic text that received the most commentaries and super-commentaries there. Mullā Ṣadrā wrote a treatise on the same subject.
